ArmInfo. The activities of the Prosecutor's Office over the past year can be assessed as effective. This was announced at the event dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Prosecutor's Office and the Day of the Prosecutor's Office employee, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, adding that this does not mean that there were no omissions in the structure's activities.
As the prime minister noted, there are, of course, omissions in the activities of all structures and officials: "Is it difficult to say whether we can achieve perfection or not?" Nevertheless, as Pashinyan assured, during the last year, the Prosecutor's Office clearly showed that meets the standards of the new Armenia and is ready to carry out the mission entrusted to it.
"Our goal is that every citizen of Armenia considers the Day of the Prosecutor's Office to be his/her day, because the most essential function of the Prosecutor's Office is to protect and preserve interests and values, the rights of citizens and the state," the premier explained. He stressed that the cause of many catastrophic pages of the history of the Armenian people is the lack of fairness and justice, and this is the most powerful factor separating the nation. "When people are divided into varieties, when the right is an instrument of elitist application, this is a real problem," the Prime Minister said. Unfortunately, Pashtnyan stressed, the law enforcement system of Armenia has for a long time acted precisely according to this logic. According to him, the solution to this problem is the most important mission of the authorities, and, above all, the Prosecutor's Office.
<Every citizen of Armenia should feel that the state is firmly behind him/her. Every person in Armenia should feel that he/she is protected in our country. The right in Armenia should no longer be an elitist privilege. Every citizen must be sure that people wearing a prosecutor's uniform are completely committed to ensuring his/her rights, regardless of his/her position, origin, job, "the Prime Minister stressed. He also stated that the closest plans of the authorities are very clear - the criminal should be punished, the criminal subculture in Armenia should be eradicated: "The criminal should be free only when everyone has guarantees that the threat from criminal is neutralized". Speaking about the fight against corruption, the head of the Cabinet stressed that the prosecutor's office in this direction should show maximum efficiency. Moreover, as Pashinyan stressed, the fight against corruption should not be perceived only in retrospective terms: "This applies to all manifestations of corruption at all times".
