ArmInfo. The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan not lost momentum of meetings. On June 21, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said this in an interview with journalists.
He noted as an important aspect the preservation of the environment, which allows us to move forward towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The Minister noted that over the past month there have been processes that have had an impact on the settlement. As an important priority, he noted the political will to preserve progress in the negotiations, and the stability of the environment that contributes to the settlement.
The Minister also noted the absolute priorities of Armenia and Artsakh within the framework of the negotiation process. According to him, such a priority is the security of the people of Artsakh, from which the issue of status follows. At the same time, the minister noted that the whole peace process means a compromise, and the latter, in turn, is a two-way process.
According to him, all parties should feel that there is a solution based on compromise that expresses the national interests and mutual concern of the parties. He again stressed that, whatever the decision, it should be acceptable to the peoples of Armenia, Artsakh and Azerbaijan.
The Foreign Minister also stressed that the escalation of the conflict has a very negative impact on the negotiation process. According to him, at the present time a number of processes cause concern, in particular, violation of the ceasefire, which claim lives. The Minister noted the need to reduce the risk of escalation in order to preserve the environment conducive to peace.
At the same time, he said that there are certain agreements. The ministers reaffirmed the agreements concerning persons held in custody, the strengthening of the cease-fire regime, as well as the stability of the environment conducive to reducing risks. Mnatsakanyan stressed that the implementation of all this requires numerous steps and the parties should work towards their implementation.
The Minister stressed that there is no change in the position of Armenia on the Artsakh issue. "Armenia's position is based on a practical basis, according to which Artsakh is a subject of the process if we are really determined to ensure progress in the negotiations," Mnatsakanyan said. In conclusion, the Armenian Foreign Minister confirmed that the parties had reached agreement on the organization of the next meeting work.
