ArmInfo. MP from <My step> Armen Khachatryan will issue a new draft law aimed at strengthening the security of officials, implying criminalization of incitement to violence against them. The author of the project Armen Khachatryan stated this at today's press conference.
According to the initiator of the bill, it is not about high-ranking officials, but about people, on whose actions security and public order depends. According to him, the bill aims to protect police officers, emergency workers, ambulance workers, to whom there are calls for violence and reprisals. He proposes to classify these appeals as dangerous and criminal acts.
<Police today are virtually defenseless against the aggression of various people. Police insult, spit in them, interfere with the exercise of their service. The policeman does not have the opportunity to protect himself in the manner prescribed by law. If we endowed the policeman with certain powers, gave him uniform, secured the coat of arms of the state on him, ordered him to protect us, then we must create conditions so that he too would be protected. Many of the policemen tolerate such an attitude, but there are also those who react to these insults and are accused of using force. As a result, the police are subject to criminal prosecution, "Khachatryan explained.
According to Khachatryan, many citizens did not understand the legislative initiative on criminal liability for insulting a government official, and it was temporarily withdrawn. The deputy stressed that there is a need to clarify the details and convey the meaning of this initiative to various sectors of society.
