ArmInfo. The Armenian Foreign Ministry does not intend to make statements in connection with the meeting of the Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin with the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Grigor Hovhannisyan stated this on June 17 at the meeting of the standing parliamentary committee on foreign relations, answering the question of the MPs.
He noted that the Foreign Ministry has no complaints to the ambassador on this issue. <I want to note that within the framework of the protocol and diplomatic norms nothing contrary to the law happened. Moreover, these actions of the ambassador cannot be the subject of a special investigation by the Armenian Foreign Ministry, "Hovhannisyan stressed.
He also stressed that even with respect to persons who are under investigation, there can be no restrictions on the diplomatic protocol.
Despite the position of the Foreign Ministry, the head of the parliamentary committee on foreign relations Ruben Rubinyan stressed that they do not welcome such a meeting.
To note, last week the Russian Ambassador to Armenia met with the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan. The meeting lasted more than an hour.
