ArmInfo. On June 14, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the newly appointed High Commissioner for Diaspora Zareh Sinanyan.
According to the press service of the Prime Minister, during the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the fact that the former mayor of the American Glendale - Zareh Sinanyan will work in Armenia. "The events of last year showed that huge changes occurred not only in Armenia, but also in the Diaspora. I can definitely say that last year the Diaspora took a full, 100% participation in the non-violent, velvety, democratic revolution in Armenia," Pashinyan said.
According to him, during the visits, he came to the conclusion that the policy pursued with the Diaspora should be revised and made more productive. The main goal of the policy, as the Prime Minister pointed out, should be to ensure greater involvement of the Diaspora in the economic life of the country, in the public and political life of Armenia, Artsakh, and in general, in the activities carried out to form the Armenian agenda.
The head of the Armenian government thanked Sinanyan for refusing to work in Glendale and his decision return to Armenia, which is "very symbolic." Noting the path traveled by Sinanyan, Pashinyan expressed confidence that he would be able to ensure completeness of communication with the Diaspora. "I wish you success. I hope time will show that the structural changes that we initiated, including with your help, are truly productive," Pashinyan said.
Zareh Sinanian, in turn, thanked the Prime Minister for his confidence, noting that it is a great honor for him to proceed to the obligations entrusted to him. According to him, as a result of the peaceful change of power in Armenia, the "doors" of deep cooperation between the RA and the Diaspora really opened. "Diaspora for Armenia is a ready-made potential that should be used in a good sense for the benefit of the Motherland. Armenia, in turn, is to some extent a guarantee of the existence and strengthening of the Diaspora. Thank you for your trust, I will do everything possible to justify it," he noted. The parties also discussed the future activities of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs.
