ArmInfo. The ongoing internal political processes in Armenia prevail over foreign policy and issues important for the country in the international arena remain in the background.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arman Navasardyan stated this at a press conference, calling the OSCE Minsk Group's position on the Karabakh settlement not very favorable, in the context that it does not call for the inclusion of Artsakh in the negotiation process. "Armenia cannot force Azerbaijan to include Artsakh in the negotiation process, this is a very difficult issue, which depends on a number of factors. Many mistakes were made. The authorities of the country had to react in a timely manner to the ongoing processes, "the expert believes.
According to him, despite the militaristic position of Azerbaijan on Karabakh, large-scale military clashes will not occur, explaining that the escalation of military actions depends not only on Azerbaijan and Armenia, but also on those players who are involved in these negotiations.
"Even Turkey is not interested in military actions, because in the event of a collision, the scenario of the First World War will unfold," he added. Navasardyan also expressed concern that the internal policy of Armenia began to prevail over foreign policy. In addition, in his opinion, the shortcomings of diplomacy that have occurred over the course of 30 years are directly reflected in today's diplomacy. He called the activities of the government unprofessional. In conclusion, the ambassador noted that those countries that use public diplomacy methods are successful and create a favorable climate for foreign policy in general, noting that the synthesis between the government and public organizations was considered unacceptable by the former foreign minister, and the current leadership believes that the foreign ministry should function in conditions of secrecy. "The Foreign Minister should at least once a year come up with a political, financial and state report on his activities, but we see that the Foreign Ministry prefers to work behind the Iron Curtain," he concluded.
