ArmInfo. In Yerevan, the EU launched a technical assistance program to improve the safety of roads in Armenia.
According to the ""TRANSPORT PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION ORGANIZATION" SNCO, the European Investment Bank (EIB) provided Armenia with a grant of 5.15 million euros, of which 0.65 million euros for technical assistance, 4.25 million euros for technical works and 0, 25 million euros for other organizational work.
The project will be implemented within 1.5 years and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2020. Alexander Bakhtamyan, project coordinator for technical assistance to the EIB in Armenia and Georgia, presented the project in detail, and also spoke about a consortium providing advisory services involving CESTRA (Serbia), COWI (Denmark), SWEROAD (Sweden). The technical assistance envisages the revision of existing projects to improve the already dangerous road sections, the development of new projects, the technical supervision of construction work on dangerous areas, the identification of other dangerous areas, the organization of trainings on road safety, the preparation and certification of road safety auditors and the conduct of other events. In addition, the standards of existing road projects in Armenia will be revised to comply with the best practices of the European Union in the field of road safety.
