ArmInfo. Parliamentary factions are inclined to elect Vahe Grigorian as a judge of the Constitutional Court. This position of the parties became clear during today's briefing in parliament.
It should be noted that for almost a year now, the National Assembly cannot elect a judge to the Constitutional Court. All candidates nominated by the president are rejected by representatives of the ruling <My Step> bloc. According to rumors circulated in the media, the reason for this opposition is the desire of representatives of the My Step bloc of the ruling bloc to see Vahe Grigoryan in this position.
The head of the commission on defense and security issues Andranik Kocharyan noted that Vahe Grigoryan always defended the interests of the victims, and it was precisely because of the principled position of Grigoryan that the previous authorities tried to isolate, but now the situation has changed. "I believe that we need people like Vahe Grigoryan in the judicial system," the MP stressed.
On the question of how he looks at the fact that Vahe Grigoryan had previously stated that the country's president Armen Sarkissian is illegitimate, but at the same time put forward his candidature, he said: <From the right point of view there are no contradictions here. So I don't see any problem here, "Kocharyan concluded.
In turn, MP from the Prosperous Armenia faction, press secretary of Gagik Tsarukyan, Iveta Tonoyan, said she did not welcome the fact that the parliament had not elected a judge of the Constitutional Court for so long.>This is an irresponsible attitude not only towards the president, but also towards the Constitutional Court system. We urged the parties to show consciousness and come to a compromise, "stressed Tonoyan. The MP stated that most likely the candidate for Vahe Grigoryan would be liked by the MPs from the "My Step" bloc. "It's just strange that a year ago Vahe Grigoryan said that the President of Armenia is not legitimate, and this same President nominates Grigoryan as a judge of the Constitutional Court, strangely," Tonoyan stressed.
Meanwhile, in a conversation with journalists the day before, Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, denied rumors that there were some contradictions between the president and the MPs. According to him, the representations of the president and the deputies regarding the candidature of a judge of the Constitutional Court do not coincide, and the process will last as long as they do not coincide.
