ArmInfo.Institutions can influence each other in various ways. On June 4, Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan told reporters that journalists had an influence on Armenian President Armen Sarkissian so that the latter would nominate Vahe Grigoryan to the position of judge of the Constitutional Court.
Zeynalyan noted that this impact was mild and legitimate, as the MPs simply voted against the nominated candidates. He also stressed that this vote, of course, was a political decision, or, more precisely, a political and legal decision.
He noted that, despite the fact that Vahe Grigoryan's candidature had already been nominated as a judge of the Constitutional Court, the President has the authority to nominate him again. "This does not contradict the requirements of the Constitution," the Minister stressed. Zeynalyan also stated that he is familiar with Grigoryan and believes that he is an impartial and good lawyer.
Meanwhile, earlier in a conversation with journalists, the speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, denied rumors that there are any contradictions between the President and the MPs. According to him, the representations of the president and the MPs regarding the candidacy of the judges of the Constitutional Court do not coincide, and the process will last as long as they do not coincide.
