"Our visit to Kazakhstan was very productive, and I hope that we have given a new impetus to the development and deepening of the Armenian-Kazakh relations," MP from the Prosperous Armenia faction, head of the parliamentary friendship group Mikael Melkumyan stated on June 4 at a press conference.
He noted that this visit was made for the first time in three years, and the Kazakh parliamentarians were very pleased that this visit took place. According to Melkumyan, earlier in these relations, there was a certain lack of information, however, during the meetings it was filled. "We agreed to create a format of cooperation between relevant commissions of parliaments. During this visit, our colleagues and we discussed the foreign policy agenda of Armenia, stressing that it has not changed, and we intend to deepen our cooperation within the EAEU. In particular, we paid special attention issues of bilateral interest, as well as discussed the prospects for the development of our relationship ", the MP said.
Melkumyan also stressed that MPs and business representatives in Kazakhstan are interested in the development of not only political relations, but they are also interested in education, IT and the market of oil products. "During our visit, our colleagues noted that IT is of particular interest to them, in this context, MPs of the Kazakh parliament noted the high importance of the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies. We also discussed the possibility of opening a Tumo branch in Kazakhstan, moreover, I want to note most likely, in October of this year, MPs from Kazakhstan will arrive in Armenia with a return visit, "the MP stressed.
Melkumyan stressed that they also met with representatives of the Armenian community in Kazakhstan. "During our meeting, representatives of the Armenian community noted that they were ready to make investments in Armenia, in particular, the road construction sector was emphasized. As you know, the trade turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan is not great, due to logistics problems. But we discussed activation issues trade through the use of a ferry from Aktau and Iran, as well as through the railway through Turkmenistan and Iran, "he said.
Another member of the friendship group Vagharshak Hakobyan noted that after the visit to Nur-Sultan of representatives of the friendship group, he met with the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Armenia Timur Urazaev, who said that the free market conditions created in our country provide the Kazakhstani side a good opportunity for investment. Hakobyan also noted that the possibilities of large-scale export of Armenian juices and water to the market of Kazakhstan are now being discussed.
