ArmInfo. There are no gangs in Artsakh. This is how David Babayan, press secretary of Artsakh President, responded to the wording in the statement of the office of former Artsakh Defense Army commander Samvel Babayan, who called the people who attacked their comrades on the Sevan-Martuni highway "a famous Artsakh gang".
"There are no gangs in Artsakh, and there can not be any. I believe that the armed attack on Samvel Babayan's comrades-in-arms on the Sevan-Martuni route should be carefully studied, so that everything will be officially clarified for everyone, if there are guilty people, they must be punished. It is not clear what happened there and who is to blame, you need to find out. If the statements of Babayan's office are true, and there are perpetrators who violated the law, then naturally no one should enjoy the privileges. Only after investigation activities are held meaningful assessment of what happened can be given. But if they are guilty, they will be punished, there is no other way, "David Babayan wrote on his Facebook page, while stressing that both slander and any force intervention in politics are unacceptable.
Earlier, the office of Samvel Babayan issued a statement stating that the comrades-in-arms of the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Samvel Babayan, were blocked on the road on the Sevan- Martuni highway and fire was opened in their direction. "On May 29, at about 03:30am, on a section of the Sevan-Martuni road, supporters of Samvel Babayan were followed by a gang known to the Artsakh people. They blocked the road and opened fire in their direction. The video cameras on this section of the road recorded their actions," Babayan's office said. It is emphasized that, according to their data, the attackers are Aleksey Balayan, Roland Aydinyan and Grigor Mirzoyan, who are patronized by former Prime Minister, head of the Free Homeland Party, Arayik Harutyunyan.
Meanwhile, <Free Homeland> categorically denied these accusations, stating that such methods of action do not fit into the principles of the party.
The Armenian police also made a statement, assuring that they are already studying the incident.
