ArmInfo. The aggravation of the situation in Kosovo did not affect the activities of the Armenian peacekeeping contingent in this country. This was announced on May 29 at a press conference in Yerevan by the commander of the brigade of the peacekeeping forces of the Armenian Defense Ministry Artak Tonoyan.
"The tension in Kosovo did not in any way affect the life and health of our peacekeepers. Currently, the Armenian unit provides security at Prishtina airport, in part, ensuring the movement of international peacekeeping forces," Tonoyan stressed.
To recall, Armenia has been participating in the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo since 2004. Now, about 40 of our peacekeepers are carrying out a mission in Kosovo.
To note, a surge of tension occurred in Kosovo after the arrest of a group of ethnic Serbs. According to some reports, clashes between the police and the Serbian population began in a partially recognized republic. The situation in Kosovo was aggravated by police raids in the north of the republic, which took place on the morning of 28 May. The purpose of the special operation was the fight against organized crime.
