ArmInfo. In those countries in which transitional justice was introduced, the results were mixed. In some countries, the use of this institution was crowned with success, in others it failed. Vice-Speaker of the Parliament from the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Vahe Enfiajyan, announced this on May 24 during parliamentary hearings on transitional justice.
At the same time, he noted that all countries in which transitional justice was being implemented were done with the best of intentions. According to Enfiajyan, the country has enough of the necessary existing tools to ensure the rule of law. You can not extend the courts of Lynch in Armenia ", the MP said.
In turn, the issue was also raised by PAP MP Naira Zohrabyan, noting that the judicial system certainly needs systemic reform. She recalled that for many years the courts have taken political decisions dictated by representatives of the previous government, as evidenced by numerous lawsuits at the ECHR, however, as the MP noted, today the country has a difficult atmosphere. "Now in our country, intolerance towards someone else's opinion is heard, there are calls to arrange reprisals against this or that person. In connection with the current situation in Armenia, international organizations and experts also spoke, but each side chooses only what it needs from their comments. However, I will remind you that the statements clearly noted that political pressure should not be allowed, " the MP noted.
Zohrabyan also noted that the Prosperous Armenia Party does not deny that the judicial system should be reformed, but it should be done within the framework of the law. "It seems to me that all these issues should be resolved in a peaceful atmosphere. When the country is divided into black and white, statements are filtered, and calls for violence are heard, I doubt the possibility of achieving good goals," Naira Zohrabyan concluded.
