ArmInfo.Anna Hakobyan, the wife of the RA Prime Minister, the chief editor of the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper, at the invitation of the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, and the Chair of the Eurasian Media Forum Organizing Committee Dariga Nazarbayeva participated in the Eurasian Media Forum held in Almaty on May 23-24.
According to the press service of Hakobyan, the spouse of the Armenian Prime Minister during her speech at the panel session "Confidence Crisis: Deployment of Global Forces" touched on conflicts in different parts of the world and the problem of military actions, noting the need to overcome the centuries-old distrust of each other.
Hakobyan expressed the conviction that today relations between states are built more on distrust than trust. As an example, she cited the relationship between the United States and Iran. "If relations between Iran and the United States were built on trust, we would not face the threat of a new destructive war today. If there was a little more trust between the US and Russia, then not only people living in these two countries would benefit from this, but also in dozens of countries around the world, we would not have new hotbeds of war and would have successfully stopped already flared points of conflicts, for example, in Syria, "she said, adding that the best way out would be to build an atmosphere of trust . In this regard, Hakobyan brought as an example of building trust the "Women for Peace" movement, aimed at making women's voices more heard and attaining peace in Artsakh, by involving all parties to the conflict in the peace process. To the remark of the Azerbaijani representative that while Hakobyan talks about peace, her son serves in Artsakh, and her husband, the Prime Minister of Armenia dances in Nagorno-Karabakh, Pashinyan's wife retorted that the war has not ended, and the conflict continues. "Yes, the war in Artsakh has not ended, and it is for this reason that my son serves there. But I am here to promote peace," Hakobyan summed up. To note, the 16th Eurasian Media Forum started in Almaty yesterday. Currently, the forum attracts more than 500 delegates from 60 countries. The tagline of the forum this year is "The world today is a discussion of the process of de-globalization, the crisis of consumption, the digitalization of the media sphere, as well as the development opportunities and challenges associated with new technologies and artificial intelligence. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian also takes part in the Forum.
