ArmInfo. National and religious minorities in Armenia are guaranteed the right to self-identity. This is a matter of principle for us. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on May 24 on the margins of a forum dedicated to contemporary issues of religion and confession in Armenia, Georgia and the world.
According to the Armenian Prime Minister, freedom of religion is one of the most important freedoms. According to Pashinyan, faith in God, in the first place, implies belief in oneself. However, in the modern world, as the prime minister admitted, there are people who believe in themselves, rejecting God. "But in any case, the process of self-confidence means that the person is put in the forefront," he noted. Armenia, as Nikol Pashinyan pointed out, stands on the defense of freedom of choice of religion. New Armenia, more than ever, is committed to these values. National and religious minorities in Armenia fully exercise their right to freedom of religion, he noted.
According to him, Armenia realizes that all religious ideas, or the majority of world religions, are in fact based on faith in one God. This, according to the Prime Minister, means that the dividing lines between nations are drawn by people who deal with their interpretation. "Our conviction is that religion exists to establish peace, harmony, unite people and achieve a state of happiness, and not vice versa," Pashinyan said. In this context, according to the head of the RA government, artificially created dividing lines can be eliminated only by mutual trust and love for each other's religious beliefs. In this regard, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia, gave particular importance to the conference, noting that such discussions can help unite around the idea of universal love and solidarity.
