ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sargsyan made a welcoming speech at the opening of the 16th Eurasian Media Forum in Almaty.

According to the press service of the President of Armenia, Sarkisyan  in his speech pointed out the impact of this media forum not only on  the media environment, but also on the Eurasian understanding and the  media as a whole.

"Thinking about a media forum, several thoughts come to my mind. The  first one is Eurasia. What is Eurasia? Eurasia is not only geography,  but also a great history of civilization originated a thousand years  ago. Eurasia is today the center of major world events and processes  When we talk about Eurasia, we cannot fail to mention Kazakhstan,  which is its center, both from the point of view of physics, and  economics and politics. No wonder that ideas of economic cooperation  originated in the post-Soviet space were born here. This is the  Eurasian Economic Union, which I hope will be another bridge that  will serve as an embodiment of our ideas. I would like to see the day  when the Eurasian Economic Community, the European Union would begin  serious negotiations on deep cooperation, "said Armen Sargsyan.   According to him, the second thing that comes to his mind is the  media. The President of Armenia believes that the media ideology has  undergone major changes in the past year. He noted that over the  years, the forum had been presented as a platform for the  journalistic community, but its importance had become more global.  "Today, when we talk about media, we think not only about journalism.  I believe that the future of the Eurasian Media Forum is the real  media and virtual life we live. Each of us spends time in the virtual  space, and it has become much more than news and journalism. It's  part of our life, it's a small tool that includes economic  development, financial relations, etc. Virtual life is interactive,  it not only integrates different types of our life, but it completely  changes us and shows how we are engaged We have science, education,  health care, economics, and politics. The role of the media and the  virtual world has a tremendous influence on politics, "Sarkisyan  said.

He also thanked the Chairman of the Eurasian Media Forum Organizing  Committee Dariga Nazarbayeva and the Government of Kazakhstan for  organizing the event. "The forum is an initiative of Dariga  Nursultanovna, she received support from the Government of  Kazakhstan. I am so pleased to come here again after a few years of  absence and find that there are things in our life that do not change  - these are the people who started this forum and continue to work "I  want to thank all of you, those who organized this forum and wish it  to take place for many more years," the Armenian President summed up.

The Eurasian Media Forum will be held until May 24. The topic of this  year's discussion is "The World Today: Transforming Reality?". About  600 delegates from 60 countries of the world participate in the  forum. President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev and Chairman of  the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian  Federation Valentina Matvienko also delivered welcoming words at the  event.

The spouse of the Prime Minister of Armenia, journalist Anna Hakobyan  takes part in the forum.  Tomorrow her presentation is planned at the  panel session "Confidence Crisis: Deployment of Global Forces" and a  meeting with Dariga Nazarbayeva.
