ArmInfo.Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received a delegation led by the head of the Eastern Neighborhood Regional Programs Division at the Directorate General for Neighborhood and European Commission Expansion Vasilis Maragos. The meeting was also attended by the head of the European Delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Peter Svitski.
According to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Mher Grigoryan called the meeting a good opportunity to discuss joint programs with the EU, as well as prospects for the development of cooperation. Mher Grigoryan also presented the process of developing a roadmap for the implementation of the Armenia-EU Agreement, as well as planned reforms in the field of justice.
Vasilis Maragos, in turn, noted that the EU assistance provided to Armenia within the framework of the annual action program increased by 25 million euros, totaling 65 million euros. Last year, the planned amount of assistance amounted to 29 million euros. Additional resources will assist in the implementation of democratic reforms, including bringing the legal framework in line with EU standards. The programs planned for the current year are expected to be implemented in the areas of energy efficiency, environmental protection, community development, and the development of the capacity of civil society and infrastructures.
