ArmInfo. If a judge finds that he cannot administer justice, he may resign. Armenian Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan said this on May 21 in an interview with journalists, referring to the statement made by the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the need for some judges to resign.
He noted that the Prime Minister called on the judges to resign if they doubt their competence. "I am sure that there will be judges who will follow this appeal. This applies to judges who did not relate to the issues of human rights protection as required by Armenian legislation," the minister said, noting that the judges will make decisions on their resignation voluntarily.
"In Armenia there is a law that all officials of the country must comply with. We will follow the the law and do not intend to infringe upon anyone's rights," the minister stressed.
To note, on May 20, the Prime Minister called on his Facebook page incompetent judges to resign. He also stated that those judges whose decisions were challenged in the ECHR and received the opposite conclusion should also resign.
