ArmInfo. At the meeting with the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, prospects for reforming the judicial and legal system were discussed. Chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly told reporters on May 20 after the meeting.
According to him, an attempt was made to assess and understand the problems existing in the system.
"The fact that there are problems in the system accepts everything, including the leaders of the judicial system. The democratization processes that started in the republic should also apply to the judicial system, taking into account the application of new mechanisms and features of this system," the MP stressed, adding that with a low confidence in the judicial system, even the most informed decision can be challenged by the public. For this reason, the head of the Committee stressed, it is necessary, first of all, to increase the credibility of the system, which will be the aim of the reforms.
He also noted the importance of introducing the institution of transitional justice in the country. On May 24, parliament will hold public hearings on this issue. During the hearings, answers will be given to questions of concern to the public.
