ArmInfo.Armenian Healthcare Minister Arsen Torosyan insists on the proper passing of technical inspection of vehicles, including in order to control emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. He stated this on May 16 at a meeting of the Armenian Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the minister, sometimes even with the naked eye one can see that the exhaust gases of a particular car are the main source of air pollution. "Unfortunately, air pollution today kills many more people than cigarettes," Arsen Torosyan said. In this context, he urged to take control of the process of passing vehicle inspection.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan noted that he did not fully agree with the statement, since "most cars in the republic run on gas, which indicates the absence of such risks."
In his turn, Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia Eric Grigoryan noted that Yerevan, including due to the presence of a large number of vehicles operating on gas, in comparison with comparable capitals is in a better condition.
