ArmInfo.Armenia is going to simplify the court proceedings on civil confiscation in the amount of up to 2 million drams. The relevant decision was made at a government meeting on May 16.
According to the Minister of Justice of Armenia, Artak Zeynalyan, the judicial statistics for 2003-2017 revealed an unprecedented increase in court cases in courts of general jurisdiction for the confiscation of property - from 48,540 to 137003. 80% of them concerned the confiscation of property, the value of which does not exceed 2 million drams. The head of the Ministry of Justice recalled that as early as February 2018, the new Civil Procedure Code established a number of procedures that were designed to load the courts for a separate category of lawsuits to be considered in a simplified manner. The new initiative of the Ministry of Justice concerns the expansion of the list of cases to be considered in a simplified manner. These cases relate to the confiscation of property not exceeding 2 million drams, which will allow reducing the number of cases considered in courts by 30 thousand by the end of this year.
