ArmInfo.Azerbaijan does not like the text of the declaration dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership program. Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated this, speaking at a conference in Brussels dedicated to this event, reports Turan.
According to him, the text of the document does not reflect the principles enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act and the UN Charter. The minister did not say which principles he had in mind, however, Baku had previously made it clear that he would not sign the document if it did not say about the territorial integrity of the participating countries.
As ArmInfo wrote earlier, according to the results of the summit in Brussels on May 13, a solemn declaration was signed, but the countries participating in the summit decided not to give the document a higher status. As a result, representatives of the Eastern Partnership countries did not sign it, and only the signature of head of EU diplomacy Federica Mogherini appeared under the text.
The decision was made because of the refusal to include in the text the issue of territorial integrity raised by Azerbaijan. It is also reported that Ukraine and Georgia complained about the lack of reference to the aspirations for European integration of individual members of the Eastern Partnership. They responded to the demands of Kiev and Tbilisi by including in the document references to previous declarations, which deal with this aspiration.
