ArmInfo.Secretary of the Artsakh Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan should not make statements that can weaken our security. The MP from the My Step faction, head of the defense and national security commission Andranik Kocharyan said this on May 13 at a briefing in the Armenian parliament, referring to Balasanyan's statement that it would be more correct if the request of the Presidents of Artsakh to release the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan on bail would be satisfied.
Kocharyan noted that politicians do not have the right to make statements that may adversely affect the country's security system. At the same time, according to the deputy, the following statement by the press secretary of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Vladimir Karapetyan, who found Balasanyan's statement strange, is quite appropriate.
Kocharyan noted that such statements have a negative impact on society. "To do so is not permissible. In addition to the fact that these statements pose a threat to our security, they also hurt our society's pride," Kocharyan said.
To note, on May 7, current President of Artsakh, Bako Sahakyan, and the former President, Arkady Ghukasyan, sent an open letter to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Artur Davtyan. In the letter, the presidents noted that Victory Day, the Day of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the liberation of Shushi are solemnly celebrated in Artsakh on May 9. In this regard, Sahakyan and Ghukasyan are asking to change the preventive measure against the first President of Artsakh, Robert Kocharyan, so that the latter can take part in the festivities. "We are ready to come up with any necessary public guarantee on the part of his release and stay at large during the entire period of the upcoming trial," the presidents noted.
