ArmInfo.Armenian Healthcare Minister Arsen Torosyan excludes confrontations with the State Control Service (SCS) and urges not to seek a connection between the corruption scandal in the Ministry of Healthcare and the criminal case in connection with possible abuses by the SCS leadership.
On April 18, head of the State Control Service of Armenia David Sanasaryan was charged under part 1 of Article 308 (Abuse of power) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. In particular, Sanasaryan is accused of using his official position contrary to the interests of the service and non-fulfillment of official duties, proceeding from his own interests, which caused substantial damage to persons, organizations or the legitimate interests of the state. The case is about abuses that occurred during the tender for the supply of dialysis equipment to medical institutions, in which employees of the State Control Service are also involved. In respect of D. Sanasaryan, a preventive measure was chosen as a subscription on his own recognizance. The duties of the head of the SCS by him are temporarily suspended.
As stated by Arsen Torosyan at a press conference on May 13, the goal of the Ministry of Healthcare is limited to the desire to exclude any interference in the process of holding these tenders. According to the head of the Ministry of Healthcare, "if ever something becomes to him he knows what the law enforcement authorities should be aware of, then he will definitely notify them about it." "If the question is whether there was a letter from me, then yes, it was. The investigation will find out who is right, who is to blame, who has abused or not his official powers," said Torosyan. According to the minister, to this day he was not called in for questioning.
