ArmInfo. The 1994 cease-fire agreement in the Karabakh conflict zone is of exceptional value. This opinion was expressed by the Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in an interview with ArmNews.
The head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry recalled that one of the co-chair countries made a statement in connection with the 25th anniversary of the cease-fire agreement (Russia-Ed. note). "This agreement is of exceptional importance, since it is the only document signed by the three parties to the conflict," the diplomat said.
Touching on the exacerbation of the situation on the front line in the recent period, which was the first time after the agreements of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Dushanbe in September last year, Mnatsakanyan stated that the violations of the truce regime were always, and the culmination of these violations were the events of April 2016. According to him, despite the agreement in Dushanbe, as long as the conflict is not fully settled, such incidents are expected. "Of course, we are concerned about the latest aggravation of the situation. In this regard, operational communication was also involved, positions were clarified," the country's chief diplomat stressed, and in this regard stressed the importance of efforts to reduce risks and comply with the ceasefire agreement.
Speaking in general about the settlement of the conflict, he stated that hard and not simple work is ahead to find a solution acceptable to all parties.
