ArmInfo.he issue with the protesters at the customs point "Bagratashen" was resolved in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding. Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia David Ananyan stated this on May 10 after a government meeting commenting on citizens' complaints about the work of the customs office on the border with Georgia.
As Ananyan pointed out, the SRC has repeatedly stated that physical persons transported goods of obvious business purposes as buses accompanying cargo from Turkey as an accompanying cargo. And, once again, the problem at customs arose from the fact that the SRC tried to stop this type of activity, not giving in to the tricks of the citizens. Nevertheless, as Ananyan pointed out, the issue was resolved in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding. "It turned out that some of them were engaged in entrepreneurial activities, some were not," he said.
From January 1 of this year the decision of the EAEU came into force, according to which in the case of individuals importing goods for personal use into the territory of the EAEU, the value of which does not exceed 500 euros, and the weight is 25 kilograms, no penalties are foreseen. If the cost and weight of goods exceed the stated requirements, a single rate of customs duties and taxes is applied, that is, 30% of the cost is paid: the cost of each extra kilogram is estimated at four euros. The State Revenue Committee urged to follow the norms of the law, noting that it is impossible to do business under the pretext of importing personal goods.
