ArmInfo. There is a positive trend in the issue of identifying and returning assets illegally appropriated and exported from Armenia. On May 10, during the presentation of the report on the activities of the prosecutor's office in 2018, answering the question of the lawmaker from the ruling My Step bloc Vagharshak Hakobyan, RA General Prosecutor Artur Davtyan stated.
According to him, in cooperation with international structures, external assets illegally exported from the country have been identified, and there is a possibility of imposing ban on their use. "We already have results. As a result of international cooperation, we found out the extent of damage caused to the state in only one criminal case. At the moment, the result is that we have the opportunity to ban the use of these assets," the prosecutor general said.
He also noted that the rates of registered crimes in Armenia increased several dozen times. Only in 2018, numerous cases of damage to the state totaling 84 billion drams were revealed, of which 32 billion drams were only in the framework of criminal cases initiated by the prosecutor's office. This was made possible thanks to internal audits and audits conducted by the executive authorities. The messages of citizens also had a significant impact, whose statements about corruption crimes have increased 3.6 times over the past year. All this, according to the Prosecutor General, testifies to the growth of public confidence in the law enforcement agencies of the country.
