ArmInfo. Armenia is not seeking to restore the balance of forces in the region, Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan said in Victory Park on May 9, answering the question whether the purchase of new weapons allowed to restore the balance of power in the region.
"I can say that the Ministry of Defense does not strive for a balance of power, but strives for excellence. We have such opportunities, in accordance with our economy and demographic data," the Armenian Defense Minister stressed. On the question of how negotiations are proceeding with Russia on the purchase of new weapons, the minister replied: "The process is in a very healthy state."
Meanwhile, clarifying when the Su-30 SM fighters will be in Armenia, Tonoyan assured that when the time comes.
Earlier, Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan said that the Armenian side had already partially paid for the contract for the supply of Russian fighters. According to him, at the first stage, Armenia plans to receive four Russian Su-30SM. The delivery time is the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, and the Armenian Armed Forces plan to buy 12 combat aircraft.
