ArmInfo. The central place in the system designed to restrain the "appetite" of the authorities of the republic under the conditions of a super-premier system should be the institution of elections.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this on May 8 at a press conference, commenting on ArmInfo's need to create institutions that will insure the public against possible abuses in the future.According to the Prime Minister, if at some stage the government represented by the Prime Minister decides to abuse power, it is thanks to the effective mechanisms of the institution of elections that the people will use their right to remove the current authorities and go to new elections.
The formation of a political opposition in Armenia as an institution of modern democracy will be another institution that insures against possible abuse of authority by the country's leaders. As the prime minister pointed out, public control, developed civil institutions, free media, on the one hand, as well as an independent judicial system, transitional justice and an independent anti-corruption body, on the other, are also among the institutions designed to curb the authorities' appetite. "Democracy in Armenia needs institutional strengthening and institutional guarantees, all this is among our priorities," Pashinyan said.
