According to the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, RA Healthcare Minister Arsen Torosyan, stressing the need to combat non-communicable diseases in Armenia, expressed gratitude to the Russian government for supporting the initiative.
In turn, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin noted in his speech that this project symbolizes fruitful cooperation between the government of Armenia, the UN (in particular, the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of NCDs) and the Government of the Russian Federation. The head of the diplomatic mission also expressed conviction that the study presented would be an effective tool for the government of Armenia in identifying priorities in the fight against non-communicable diseases, which will accelerate the socio-economic development of the country.
At the same time, Kopyrkin stated that in February 2019, the Russian Federation had decided to allocate about $ 40 million to the World Health Organization budget over the next five years for measures to prevent and combat noncommunicable diseases.
