ArmInfo. A lot has been done during the year of premiership of Nikol Pashinyan, moreover, both in domestic and foreign policy. Israeli public figure, political scientist Avigdor Eskin expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
"Fighting the shadow economy, corruption and monopolies, removing 51 thousand jobs from the shadows, exceeding the planned indicators of the state budget replenishment, wage growth in various vital areas, starting with medicine. And as a result, economic growth in Armenia this year may well reach 7 -8%. Pashinyan's foreign policy is aimed at developing relations primarily with Russia, and then beforewith the European Union, the United States and Israel.
This is clearly manifested at least by the voting of Armenia at the UN on the Crimea and other issues important for Moscow, "he stressed. In addition, Armenia's chairmanship in the CSTO and the EEU perfectly fulfills all allied obligations and even sent peacekeeping to Syria to help Assad and Russia contingent. According to a political analyst, such steps of Armenia towards Russia should be perceived in Moscow with a feeling of deep satisfaction, however, judging by the publications and reports of the Russian media, this is far from being the case.
According to Eskin, the foremost propagandists of Russian propaganda, most of whom bear Armenian names, actively criticize Armenia, accusing its leader of unpredictability and representing the country as a territory where anti-Russian events are actively organized by the US State Department. And all this against the background of how the Armenian policy towards Russia over the past year has not contributed to such alienation. Not having an exhaustive explanation of such a paradox, Eskin suggests that this situation is the result of active, based on serious finances, work in Moscow for supporters of former President Robert Kocharyan. Plus, the loveless of Russians for the Armenian prime minister is due to his sharp distinction from the classical leaders of the post-Soviet countries.
"The Armenian Prime Minister is not at the same time anti-Soviet, not anti-Russian, but also not Soviet. That is, he is not his own. Definitely, having every right to criticize Armenia's foreign policy from the standpoint of its own interests, boosting Moscow's unfriendly atmosphere in relations with its most important ally, Yerevan , it seems devoid of meaning. Especially, starting from similar apolitical categories and reasons. This does not give Russia any tangible preferences, and I don't think what it will give in the foreseeable future, " Eskin concluded.
