ArmInfo. Head of the State Control Service David Sanasaryan stressed that director of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan had no right to make public statements on the case against him.
As Sanasaryan said on April 30 at a press conference in Yerevan, he sees this as pressure on the investigating authorities. "You cannot make such statements. And who said that the case will reach the court? I take it as pressure. Arthur Vanetsyan should not interfere in this process," he said.
At the same time, lawyer Sanasaryan stated that the statements of Vanetsyan in the case concerning his client are of concern because the head of the National Security Service does not have powers or functions to influence or interfere with the activities of the investigating authorities. According to him, this function is vested only with the Prosecutor General's Office and this requirement of the Armenian legislation. The lawyer Sanasaryan recalled that the ECHR also repeatedly stressed the unacceptability of the interference of officials in the criminal investigation process.
He also did not rule out that in the course of establishing justice they would face serious obstacles, since the investigating authorities will be limited in their activities due to Vanetsyan's statements.

After the famous events that occurred in Armenia in April 2018, there were no cases of sewing or fabrication. We all build a state of law, and the National Security Service plays a key role in this. The accusation against David Sanasaryan is currently fully substantiated by the testimony of various people held by confrontations. But, without violating Mr. Sanasaryan's presumption of guilt, I urge everyone to suffer a little when the case is sent to the court, you and the general public will be able to get acquainted with all the evidence that was obtained during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case. And then the public, the journalistic community and all the rest will appreciate the authenticity of this evidence. "
