Main Icon of Russian Armed Forces "Savior Not Made by Hands" will be  brought to Armenia

ArmInfo.The main Icon of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation " Savior Not Made by Hands " will be brought to Armenia. This was reported to ArmInfo by the head of the press service of the Southern Military District, Vadim  Astafyev.

According to Astafiev, the relevant decision was signed by the  President of the Russian Federation.  According to the decision of  the Russian leader, the main icon of the Armed Forces of the Russian  Federation, the Icon will be taken to all military units and  formations of military districts and the Northern Fleet from April 30  to August 13, 2019.

<The ritual of familiarization with the Icon on the territory of the  Southern Military District will be held in the Crimea and Sevastopol  from April 29 to May 12 of this year, the shrine will be brought to  the Rostov region for 26 days from May 13 to May 28. In the Krasnodar  Territory and the Republic of Adygea, military personnel and local  residents will be able to touch the Icon from May 29 to June 23. The  next two days the familiarization will be held in Abkhazia. From June  26 to June 30, the Icon will be exhibited in the temples of  Stavropol. In the republics of the North Caucasus - North Ossetia,  Chechnya and Dagestan, as well as in the Transcaucasian republic  South Ossetia, familiarization with the main Icon of the Russian  Armed Forces servicemen and citizens will take place from June 31 to  July 16 of this year. From July 17 to July 18, the icon will be  presented in the Astrakhan region, from July 19 to August 1 - in the  Volgograd region. The ritual of bringing the icon to the military  units of the Southern Military District on the territory of the  military base in the Republic of Armenia from 2 to 5 August will end.  Protection of the shrine at the places of stay will be provided by  units of the military police of the Southern Military District,  "Astafiev said.

< Savior Not Made by Hands > - the most ancient of the canonical  images of Christ. For a long time, the "Savior Not Made By Hands" was  considered the patron saint of the Russian army. Before the reign of  Peter the Great, the Russian army had no special heraldry and  military banners were replaced by icons tied to a pole. The image of  the "Savior Not Made by Hands", in which people saw their protector  and savior, was also embroidered on military flags, placed over the  gates of the fortresses. The President of Russia donated funds to  create an image of the Icon, without an icon, this icon was given the  status of the Main Icon of the RF Armed Forces. The Icon is placed in  a bronze warehouse weighing about 100 kg. The illumination of the  Icon was made by Patriarch Kirill at the Easter service on April 28  of this year.
