ArmInfo. The government of Armenia will help the world famous grandmaster Levon Aronian to prepare for the fight for the title of the strongest chess player on the planet.
At a meeting on April 25, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to assist the grandmaster $ 133,200.
According to the Acting RA Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Gabriel Ghazaryan, Levon Aronyan is a three-time winner of the World Chess Olympiads, the winner of the World Team Championship, two-time World Cup winner. In the FIDE ranking, the Armenian grandmaster takes the fourth place, and has all the real chances to compete for the title with the current world champion Magnus Carlsen.
To note, according to the help-rationale of the draft decision, Levon Aronyan will be struggling for the title of the strongest chess player on the planet this year, and computer technology is necessary for success in modern chess. Participation requires the most serious preparation, but as it turns out, the applicant does not have the appropriate conditions.
The draft decision, in particular, says: "The high level of chess in the last decade is inextricably linked with high technology, since the study and expansion of the repertoire directly depends on the availability of multi-core computers." It is also noted that the equipment for Aronyan was acquired in 2011 and 2013 and is already outdated, lagging behind the computers used by the rivals.
To solve this problem and to ensure full preparation of Levon Aronyan for tournaments, the Armenian government decided to allocate the necessary amount to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. To resolve all issues, this amount will, as a gift, be transferred to the Chess Federation of Armenia.
