ArmInfo. The Armenian Foreign Ministry responded to the statement by the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov that issue of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan is included in the agreement between the EU and Azerbaijan, which is being prepared for signing.
Spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan, referring to this statement by the head of the legislative body of Azerbaijan, stated that the documents around which the EU is in talks with partners are not public in nature and are available only to the parties involved in the negotiation process. <As for the position of the European Union on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it is clearly reflected in the agreement on a comprehensive and enhanced Armenia-EU partnership, where the principles of conflict resolution also indicate the right of peoples to self-determination. Moreover, this position was repeatedly confirmed by high-ranking EU officials, and support was expressed for the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, "the representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
Armenia has repeatedly stated at various platforms, continued Naghdalyan, and again emphasizes the unacceptability of any double standards on this issue that may contradict the approaches of the Minsk mediators endowed with an international settlement mandate, and which may obstruct the peace process. It should be noted that today the Azerbaijani media spread the statement of the speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Asadov, regarding the Azerbaijan-EU relations. Thus, Asadov, in particular, informed that on May 13 it is planned to sign an agreement between the EU and Azerbaijan, which will also include a point on the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. "Above the agreement with the EU, work was carried out for many years. One of the goals envisaged that the agreement reflected the territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of Azerbaijan. And, we have achieved this. There are some small questions that are being worked on'', the speaker said. It is noteworthy that a few hours later, Asadov's statement was withdrawn from the information portals, and the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which Asadov's statements regarding the signing of the document on May 13 were refuted.
