ArmInfo.Traffic of heavy vehicles on the territory of Armenia may be limited. Amendments to the law "On Automobile Roads" and in a number of related laws were introduced at a sitting of the RA National Assembly on April 23.
As noted by Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia Bagrat Badalyan, at the parliamentary meeting, the restrictions are aimed at maintaining the roads and road surface, It is proposed, in particular, taking into account international experience, to introduce restrictions on the passage of vehicles weighing more than 44 tons with a maximum load on one axle of 11.5 tons. At the same time, as the Deputy Minister noted, a separate permit will be provided for all goods that exceed this weight, as well as for indivisible goods exceeding the stipulated tonnage. He noted that in the neighboring countries of Armenia there are also similar restrictions, in particular, in Iran - 42 tons. Georgia is under review to reduce the limit to 40 tons.
At the moment, a special application is also being developed, on which it will be possible to see which roads will be able to drive with such tonnage, as well as the load each road will be able to withstand. At the same time, he noted that the size of the fine for violation of this norm is also proposed to increase from 200 thousand drams to 500 thousand drams. The package will take effect three months after its adoption.
