ArmInfo.Armenian President Armen Sarkissian sent a congratulatory message to Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of his victory in the presidential election.
"I am sure that the development of relations between Armenia and Ukraine is based on the interests of our countries and peoples, and by joint efforts the Armenian-Ukrainian relations can be raised to a new level for the benefit of our peoples interconnected by the history of centuries-old friendship," the president's congratulatory message reads.
Armen Sarkissian wished the newly elected President good health and all the best, and the friendly people of Ukraine peace and prosperity.
In turn, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, on Sunday evening in the Ukrainian language, was one of the first to congratulate Zelensky with victory in the elections, expressing the hope that the new president of Ukraine will make every effort to ensure that the traditionally friendly relations between Armenia and Ukraine reach a new level.
According to the CEC, 73.18% of voters voted in the second round of the presidential elections on April 21 for the representative of the Servant of the People party, and 24.49% for the current head of state. Thus, over 12.2 million voters voted for Zelensky, over 4 million - for Poroshenko.
