ArmInfo. American analytical and research publication "Stratfor" published an article that describes recognized and unrecognized states of the world.
The article, in particular, states that at present the UN unites 195 sovereign states, but de facto their number is somewhat more. "There are countries on the political map of the world that, despite international non-recognition, are de facto independent," the article notes. According to analysts of Stratfor, there are three such countries in the world - Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), as well as Transnistria and Somaliland. It is noteworthy that the article mentions the Armenian version of the name of the republic. "Stratfor" notes that despite the lack of recognition from UN members, these countries have full attributes of independent states - government institutions, democratic structures. It is also noted that these self-proclaimed states, despite their non-recognition, fully enjoy independent power on their territory.
