ArmInfo. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the Armenian police has been not only a guarantor of the country's internal security, but also a defender of state borders and a coordinator of a number of important spheres of public life. The head of the Armenian Police Valery Osipyan said this on April 16 at a solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of the Police.According to Osipyan, in today's Armenia the Police continues to carry out the mission entrusted to itself since the beginning of the 20th century. "The police are where the country and its citizens need it. The law enforcement agency today, in addition to protecting public order and security, is on alert at the border," the department head said.
According to Osipyan, as one of the pillars of statehood, the modern Armenian police are keeping pace with the times, being in the process of constant improvement, aimed at the future, and, most importantly, next to the people. "Our most important task is to protect public order and ensure the protection of human rights. And the most important assessment is public trust in the police. It's a matter of honor," said Osipyan. The Chief of Police assured that to justify the high trust of his fellow citizens is a matter of honor for the security forces. For this, the Police will not retreat one iota in the fight against corruption and other vicious phenomena.
