ArmInfo.The Head of Zartonk village, where an armed incident occurred on Saturday and protests took place, officially announced the early termination of his powers.
As reported on the official website of the Armavir regional administration, Paruyr Sargsyan met with the regional governor Hambartsum Matevosyan, with whom he discussed possible ways to resolve the tense situation in the village.
According to a report published on the regional administration website, as a result of discussions, Sargsyan decided to submit a statement on the early resignation from the post of the head of Zartonk and informed the villagers in order to avoid further clashes. Later, the governor and the headman met with representatives of the village administration and residents, during which Sargsyan officially announced the early termination of his powers, assuring that he made this decision without pressure and in the name of solidarity among the residents of the community. To note, on April 13 an armed incident occurred in the village of Zartonk, as a result of which 5 people were injured. After the incident, part of the village residents blocked the railway line and demanded the resignation of the village head and the school principal. Villagers unblocked the paths only after the head of the State Control Service of Armenia David Sanasaryan arrived to them, who promised to resolve the situation in the community. As the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia reported later, as a result of the incident, 2 people were detained on charges of hooliganism.
