ArmInfo.The terms of appointment of members of the commission for the protection of economic competition and the commission for regulating public services in Armenia will be postponed.
The parliament of the country at an extraordinary meeting on April 8 in the first reading began to discuss the amendments in the laws "On the Protection of Economic Competition" and "On the Regulation of Public Services."Presenting the package, RA Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan stressed that according to the current regulations, the members of the above commissions were to be appointed by the parliament on the proposal of the Prime Minister within one year from the date of the presidential election, and this period expires on April 9. Now it is proposed to postpone this period until June 30.
"These appointments were not made for obvious reasons - the dissolution of the National Assembly, the election of the Prime Minister and the formation of the government. Therefore, a similar problem arose," Zeynalyan said, adding that until June 30, the government will return to a legislative settlement of the problem in a calm atmosphere. As of today, the list of commission members is not presented.Earlier, the Ombudsman of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, stressed that there is a problem of constitutionality on the issue of appointing members of these commissions from the NA, primarily because their term of office has not expired. According to him, since this period expires on April 9, then after that the commissions cannot act. In this regard, the possibility of applying to the Constitutional Court is being studied.
