ArmInfo. OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak urges Azerbaijan and Armenia to use the impetus achieved in the process of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"There is a new impulse, there are expectations ... What we need to do now is to turn this impulse into concrete steps on the ground," said Lajcak, Turan reports. - At the same time, he highly appreciated the intensified dialogue between the parties with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
"The leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia met three times informally, and the foreign ministers met regularly ... There was an important meeting in Vienna ... We must continue to develop this positive impulse", he added.
Earlier,on the same day, Lajcak spoke at the US Helsinki Commission, answering questions about the Slovak presidency and its priorities for the OSCE in 2019. Regarding the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, he said: "Although some positive developments have occurred, we still need to see a lot before talking about real progress."
Lajcak also stressed the importance of democratic change throughout the OSCE region: "We are here to work in a safer and more democratic region, where every person has security and individual rights," he said.
