ArmInfo. The Administration of the penitentiary of Armenia refutes the information on the provision of a computer to the arrested second president of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan.
According to the statement of the penitentiary, Robert Kocharyan was not provided with a computer, but an e-book without an internet connection. The report also notes that the computer is one of subjects prohibited in prisons .
To note, earlier ArmInfo reported that after the request of the Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, the conditions of detention of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan in the penitentiary institution "Yerevan" were improved. After the petition of the Ombudsman, the demands of Kocharyan, who was arrested in the March 1 case on charges of overthrowing the constitutional system, were met. According to the Ombudsman's annual report, Kocharyan, in general, does not complain about the attitude of the staff of the prison. However, during a separate conversation with the Ombudsman, Kocharyan raised the issue of the illegality of his arrest on his property and his pension and the ban on visits and telephone conversations with his relatives. He also asked for a computer. After the intervention of the Ombudsman, these problems were resolved. In particular, the arrest from Kocharyan's retirement account was lifted, a meeting and telephone conversations with relatives were allowed, except for one who has witness status in a criminal case, most likely Kocharyan's eldest son Sedrak Kocharyan.
