On April 3, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Defense and Security Issues Andranik Kocharyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia Georgy Saganelidze.As the press service of the parliament reports, during the meeting they discussed the promotion of the Armenian-Georgian parliamentary agenda. The parties stressed the importance of the greatest expansion and deepening of traditional friendly relations between the two countries, the role of parliamentary diplomacy in interstate relations.
The favorable conditions for the development of democratic institutions created in Armenia after the revolution were noted. The interlocutors stressed the key role of the legislative body in terms of parliamentary government, both in building the state and in exercising parliamentary oversight.The chairman of the commission and the ambassador, addressing regional problems and challenges, agreed on an exclusively peaceful resolution of conflicts. They stressed that ensuring peace and security is an important guarantee for the development of the region.
On the same day, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Foreign Relations Ruben Rubinyan also received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia Saganelidze.Welcoming the guest in the parliament, Rubinyan stressed the importance of effective parliamentary cooperation aimed at the development of Armenian-Georgian interstate relations. In this context, the chairman of the commission emphasized the priority of ensuring a high level of dialogue between the parliaments of Armenia and Georgia - as a solid basis for further expanding and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation.The parties also turned to interaction at international platforms, discussed issues of deepening and expanding multilateral relations between the two countries.
