ArmInfo. Negotiations on the Artsakh settlement should be transferred from the political to the legal arena. On April 3, the head of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargsyan stated this on April 3 in the course of the scientific-practical conference on the theme "Legality (Legitimacy) of Education of the Artsakh Republic from the Perspective of International Law".He noted that the political negotiations on Artsakh were stumped. "I believe that we have great potential, which we have not yet used. In nominal terms, we must translate the negotiations into the legal field," Sargsyan stressed.
He noted that the members of the conference will send a letter to the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia with a request to organize parliamentary hearings on the subject of the Karabakh settlement. "During these hearings, we (Members of the Organizational Committee for the Defense of the Republic of Artsakh, - Ed.) Intend to raise our proposals for a settlement. In addition, we believe that a unified approach on the Artsakh issue has not yet been formed, in which the whole essence will be expressed of the conflict. We believe that the parliament should recognize Artsakh, "the leader of the Democratic Party of Armenia stressed.Sargsyan also stressed that if Armenia does not recognize Artsakh, Azerbaijan will constantly talk about the territorial issue at the heart of the Karabakh conflict. In turn, expert Alexander Manasyan noted that the analysis of the conflict should be started from the chronology of the events of the 20th century, whenThe Republic of Azerbaijan was formed, and that Artsakh was never part of independent Azerbaijan. "Now Azerbaijan declares that it is the legal successor of the first Azerbaijan Republic. Therefore, it cannot have any claims on Artsakh," he stressed. After the conference, a statement will be adopted, which will be sent to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the Government of Armenia.
