ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan at a meeting with Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde congratulated the country on its successful membership in the UN Security Council.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told ArmInfo, at the meeting the sides exchanged views on the prospects for deepening the bilateral cooperation agenda, the priority areas of cooperation were highlighted information technology, as well as the initiation of projects to promote the digital agenda.
Mnatsakanyan stressed that one of the foreign policy priorities of Armenia is the expansion of cooperation with African countries, including Ethiopia. He stated the readiness of the Armenian side to take practical steps towards more efficient use of the existing potential. In this regard, the parties mutually stressed the need to expand the existing regulatory framework.
The Armenian Foreign Minister spoke about the internal political processes in Armenia, the broad agenda of reforms undertaken by the government, which focuses on stimulating an economy based on innovation and technology.
The Armenian Minister stressed the importance of increasing the involvement of women in the social and political life of Armenia and Ethiopia, with satisfaction stating the approval by the RA Government of the action program for 2019-2021, taking into account UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on the part of women's involvement.
Mnatsakanyan spoke about the recent processes in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. In this regard, the parties agreed that there is no alternative to the peaceful settlement of conflicts. The interlocutors also discussed relevant issues of the international agenda.
