ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan considers senseless the concerns around the statement of Defense Minister David Tonoyan, made in New York at a meeting with the Armenian community.
Thus, on April 2, in the military pantheon "Yerablur", referring to the statements of Tonoyan, Pashinyan expressed the conviction that the excitement around this issue is meaningless. "To be honest, if Tonoyan made a different statement, I would release him from his post. Let's see what he said! He just noted that if there is a war, Armenia will strive to win it. I think that if suddenly, the Minister of Defense thinks differently, he should not occupy this post. But this does not in any way cast a shadow on the peace process, but rather focuses attention on the importance of an exceptionally peaceful settlement of the issue, "Pashinyan said.
Clarifying whether this statement was agreed, the prime minister only reminded that the Minister of Defense was acting under the leadership of the head of government.
It should be noted that the statement by Tonoyan made at a meeting with the Armenian community in New York that he rehashed the formula "peace in exchange for territories" for a "new war for new territories" caused a nervous reaction in Baku. At the same time, two Azerbaijani departments attacked the head of the Armenian defense department with criticism and demanded clarification from the top leadership of the Republic of Armenia. At the same time, Baku promised to take all possible measures "for the liberation of Azerbaijani territories", assuring that the Azerbaijani army is one of the strongest in the world. Meanwhile, referring to the wave of protest raised by Azerbaijan, Tonoyan himself said that he can only add to what was said that it is unacceptable to speak with Armenia, the Armenian army, Artsakh from a position of strength and frighten the Armenian people with a possible war.
