ArmInfo. The lack of systematic corruption lies in the fact that all manifestations of corruption without exception do not go unpunished. This was announced at a briefing in the National Assembly of Armenia on April 1 by head of the parliamentary commission on defense and security, a MP from the My Step bloc Andranik Kocharyan.
He noted that corruption in the country flourishes when the guilty officials are not arrested. "We all see that there is a consistent fight against corruption. The Prime Minister and members of the government have declared fighting this vicious phenomenon. I can assure you that the authorities are dealing with this issue," Kocharyan said, citing the fact that yesterday, an official who was arrested for bribery; is a member of the new government team. "It becomes obvious that there is no privileged person in the fight against corruption," Kocharyan concluded.
In turn, head of the Bright Armenia faction, Edmon Marukyan, stated that corruption still exists and one of the reasons for this is that the government did not decide which body should be created for an efficient struggle. "We need to organize a systemic fight against corruption. Yes, the Prime Minister has repeatedly noted and, with his actions, argued that he is actively fighting corruption. But some people cannot solve this issue," the deputy stressed. Marukyan noted that a new and effective body should be created to combat this phenomenon.
MP from the Prosperous Armenia faction Gevorg Petrosyan also agreed that corruption in the country has not yet been eradicated.
To note, on Saturday, the National Security Service detained the Deputy Minister of Healthcare Arsen Davtyan while receiving a bribe.
