ArmInfo. The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan granted the petition to elect the arrest as a preventive measure against the judge of Kotayk region Gagik Heboyan, who is accused of receiving a bribe on a large scale.
According to a sufficient aggregate of evidence obtained in the course of the preliminary investigation in a criminal case accepted by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia and initiated by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, a judge of the court of general jurisdiction of Kotayk region Gagik Heboyan was charged under paragraph 2 of part 3 of article 311 of the RA Criminal Code for committing a criminal act (accepting a bribe on a particularly large scale), in particular, with the assistance of a member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the SIS, according to the accusation, the judge for committing actions in favor of the claimant in a civil case under consideration, that is, for exempting the latter from paying state duty of 3.400.000 drams, on March 4, 2019 demanded that he pay a bribe Large amounts of $ 3500 (1.715.000 drams). However, the amount of the "deal" as a result of the "trades" was reduced to $ 2.500 (1.225.000 drams).
In order to avoid receiving a bribe in person, the judge turned to his acquaintance lawyer for help. As part of the operational-search activities carried out by the National Security Service, the said citizen transferred the amount of a bribe in the amount of $ 2,500 to a lawyer, who on the same day handed it to the judge.
On March 30, 2019, an investigator of the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia submitted a petition to the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan to elect arrest as a preventive measure against Heboyan. The petition was granted the same day, and Heboyan was arrested. The investigation continues.
