ArmInfo. The National Security Service of Armenia announced the details of the detention of RA Deputy Minister of Healthcare Arsen Davtyan.
According to the National Security Service, as a result of the implementation of measures aimed at combating crime and combating corruption, information was obtained on giving a bribe on a large scale to a senior official of the RA Ministry of Healthcare.
"As a result of the undertaken large-scale operational search activities and complex investigative actions, evidence was obtained that the director of one of the medical institutions in Armenia in order to obtain protection from the deputy minister, coordinating the financing of health facilities by the Ministry of Healthcare of Armenia, to fill the lack of financing of a medical institution at the expense of funds allocated under the state order, on March 30, 2019, the head of this medical institution personally gave the Deputy Minister of Healthcare in his office as a bribe a large-scale amount, which was transferred under the operational control of the NSS RA ", the statement reads.
According to the report, on the same day, the deputy minister was detained on suspicion of receiving a bribe on a particularly large scale, and the person suspected of giving a bribe, taking into account the age of the latter and his state of health, was taken as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues, and measures are being taken to identify other possible corruption manifestations in this area and the persons involved. According to media reports, director of the Institute of Perinatology and Obstetrics Razmik Abrahamyan tried to give a bribe of $ 3,000 to Davtyan. He himself turns out to comment on this information, arguing that the investigation is currently underway.
